Sometimes when this page loads, it decides to link me to just a page of the
ads. Er, why does it do this?

Ozymandias, what page specifically are you experiencing this problem on? The main page of the forum? The main page of the site? Or this page for forum comments?

My suspicion is that the css stylesheet hasn't loaded properly and is causing the page to look funky. This can happen if the server is getting busy and, for some reason, it can't pull up the stylesheet. Usually if you hit the refresh button on your browser it'll solve this problem.

Believe it or not, I don't have any kind of evil scheme to periodically redirect people to a page of ads. If this is happening then it shouldn't be happening.

Ozymandias if you are using Firefox add the Museum of Hoaxes URL to your accept pop-ups list. This will help, sometimes. Firefox doesn't seem to like the Museum of hoaxes for some odd reason. I don't have problems with the forum anymore, but with the weblog comments I get the same thing you do. I end up hitting the back button when I get the ads only page and trying to quickly click on the comments page while it tries to load to stop it from loading the ads only. I hope I made some sense here.

I think I found out why this was happening. It seems to be a bug in firefox that causes it to incorrectly load some pages that contain javascript.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/long_list.cgi?buglist=264811

It doesn't always happen, and if you hit the back button it will return to the correct page and won't happen again.

I could remove all javascript from my site. But that would mean no ads... and no ads would mean I can't afford to run the site. So since it only seems to affect a small percentage of people who are using firefox, I'll just have to live with it for now. Hopefully future versions of firefox will correct the problem.

Hitting the back button doesn't always fix it, often I have to click on the page so it will stay rather than load the ads only page. It is a minor problem really and something I am willing to live with since IE basically locks up my whole computer while loading a page.

Thanks for checking Alex. Like you said, hopefully Firefox will fix this bug in the next release.
