After surfing around the FOXBlocker site it seems to be a real product. I would not however purchase this item for myself after reading this little tidbit in the forum section:
The reason FOXBlocker doesn't support channels greater than 62 has to do with frequancy (sic) and attenuation (sic).
As the frequancy (sic) of the channel gets higher, it becomes more and more difficult to block a single channel. While working with the product, we found that FOXBlocking channels greater than 62 causes the sound on the adjacent channels to become distorted. Unfortuately (sic), this is a limmitation (sic) of the product.
I think someone needs to send them a spell checker!
Seriously though I am not saying I wouldn't buy the product because of the spelling errors, it sounds like the product has some issues that I would find annoying. I think I will just change the channel with my remote.

Okay. If this is real then I don't understand how it works. Fox isn't on the same channel on every cable service, so how does it know which channel to block? I can't find an explanation for that on the site.

My TV already has a Fox Blocker. It's called the OFF button. TV sucks.

Hey Alex, It's only $9.00 or so... how about someone gets one and dissects the thing, so to speak, to try and figure out how it works... if at all. I know what you're going to say already though... and no we're not willing to blow our $9 bucks on it. Just thought maybe someone else might want to... gave a good one guys & gals.

I would guess you tell him what channel it is in your system. Then he winds the thing to the correct frequency. actually the cable company has them for several channels such as mtv. they are mandated by law to provide them. of course they don't want you to know that becasue it would get very expensive for them but ask them next time you have a serice call.

I think 'me' is correct. It looks like the buyer selects the specific channel to be blocked at purchase. My understanding is that every channel has it's own frequency so each blocker is configured to filter out the desired one and probably has nothing to do with Fox at all. This device would likely work just as well blocking the cartoon network.
Since we have the digital cable here we get that option in our main menu.
...Not that I block anything though, send it on through. When the kiddo is older though, I may want to consider blocking the adult-ish channels.

These things are simple notch filters; an array of capacitors and inductors, the correct combination of which will "notch", attenuate, or otherwise lower the signal level of a given frequency (channel). Rocket science in 1915. Cable companies use these all the time to block un-paid/un-subscribed channels. He probably bought them from the same source they do.

Go to the "purchase" page on foxblocker.com and you'll see a pull-down menu where you specify the channel that FNC occupies on your cable system.
The device is channel-specific--in other words, it only blocks whatever channel it's set for.

Perhaps you are unaware of the polls which show that Fox News Channel viewers are FAR more likely to believe that WMD were found in Iraq, that Hussein was directly linked to Al Qaeda and that Iraq was proven to be responsible for the attacks on 9/11 than non-FNC viewers. (In case you don't know, none of those beliefs are accurate.)
Given that, I'd be a little more careful about asserting that FNC viewers are "less stupid" than liberals.
Besides, are you saying that FNC is a conservative news channel? That would contradict what FNC management has said since its inception.

Anywho, like I said before...the Fox news I watch has the same news as ABC, CBS, & NBC.

Well, YOU may not believe those things, but according to polling, FNC viewers believe in those inaccurate things in FAR greater numbers than viewers of other news sources. If FNC merely reports the news objectively, why then would their viewers believe incorrect things in such higher numbers?

I live with someone ( an elderly parent ) who watches fox througout the day - he's hypnotized by it. He doesn't even buy into most of the shit they're dispensing, but the fact that he's pissing his life away watching that trash is very disturbing to me. I guess this is a case of the child becoming the parent so to speak. The Fox Blocker is a perfect tool for this situation - say all you want about integrity, but try living with hours of lies and hate spewed into your home each day, and you'll soon see the charm of such a stealthy device. "why can't I get FOX anymore?! what's wrong with this damn TV?!" "hmm, dunno. maybe the rain has affected the antenna again."...
and no we're not willing to blow our $9 bucks on it. Just thought maybe someone else might want to... gave a good one guys & gals.
