Actually, CRACKER, is not a racist term. It's a cultural term.
The first link gives some info I was not aware of, regarding the usage & origin of the term "Cracker". I have always heard it came from the crack of the whips on the cattle's back. I have never before heard the term from the first site, but it still gives a cute history.
I know very few people in my family who feel the term "Cracker" is racist, or derogatory in any way. In fact, my mother wears it like a badge of honor.
If you've read any of Marjory Kinan-Rawling's (an uppity yankee) work, you may understand more of the cracker culture. This is something our children learn about in school...usually around 3rd grade or so.

Megan? Were do I live? Just look at my location. I have lived here in Florida almost 11 years. I think I know as much about the term cracker as anyone. It is considered a derogatory term. I get called it alot. I don't find it offensive but it is DEROGATORY. Just because someone isn't offended by it doesn't mean it's use isn't intended to offend.

This is what my Scandia comment was related to.
Scandinavians are beautiful, creative and intelligent. SO are many peoples but Ed was basically denying whites just to spite WNs. I personally am not only a fan of Europe but I love the people in Japan, parts of China and.. yes Yama.. even parts of Indochina. They have some wonderful people there as well.
