Of course I am assuming and you know what happens when you assume.

Oops! Sorry Myst. I just noticed the misspelling. I can't get there.(Here we go again). An error page comes up saying I need to adjust my browser settings. No idea how to do this, or what to set them to. I figure the computer master 'Myst in the Machine'Could give me yet another hand pleeeaaaaase?
Thanks Rex, but I am no computer master. I know a few tricks here and there and that is about it.
Did you try refreshing the page? sometimes a page doesn't load for one reason or another, especially if you are using Internet Explorer for your browser

Yes, but with no such luck. I suck at this technological crap. I was against computers when they started infiltrating homes all across America, so haven't had much play with them. I inadvertantly kept myself out of the loop. When I saw my stand as a failure, I joined the crowd. Computer. Yay. Thats why I know nothing about them. Funky huh?
Too many people trying to access the page at one time maybe?

Original photo does not look like having a water ever somewhere around the rocks. It looks like a grey sand. Seems like the pic that started this discussion was somehow corrected for the liquid effect.

I hope your not talking about martian pee. You just leave that up to me. Alright? I'm the martian pee king! No, really though, if your talking about the pic up in the corner, forget it. You need to go find a bigger and more clear pic. It really does look like water, but it can't be. Cuz' it's martian pee.

that does look like sand. Also, if you look at the NASA pic and the one in the first link, some shadowing has been added to the second one by someone, and it appears that some areas of the image have been darkened and brightened, making it appear as if it was water, not martian sand.

The existence of water on Mars has already been proven. Water on Mars

If you go back to the APOD Index site, and look up the posted picture for 07/20/05, there is an excellent photo of real water ice on Mars. http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap050720.html
Sorry, don't know how to hotlink this.

stork, the pic worked so you can do it that way, or you can:
click "link" on the bar above the message box where it says 'strong', 'em', etc. Paste in the link, title it, and either ignore the last prompt or post something in it. That should work in the future.
Ultra fine dust that's left undisturbed can give the appearance of water or liquid when viewed under the right conditions. This is a published picture and has been around. So, the only part of it that's a hoax, is the part where someone took it and said that area was water (because it looks like it) when in reality it's not. Mars is so cold that liquid water poured from a glass would freeze and crystalize before it ever even hit the ground, something I have seen happen here on Earth where it's MUCH warmer. No chance for liquid water on Mars without some external heat source such as volcanism.
