Fingerpointing?

I read about this on snopes:
http://snopes.com/religion/finger.asp

...I have attended a church that has been a part of the Southern Baptist Convention for 115 years. Some of the people attending the church had family that was part of the very first congregation. I have NEVER seen anyone raise their hand/finger when leaving. The black/white population is pretty equal, although there are more white people in the early service (traditional service), and more of the black population attends the later service (contemporary service).

So...can anyone debunk this? Does anyone have any background here? Also, if raising your finger meant your master excuses you...Why hell didn't everyone just walk out the door with their finger in the air??

Wow! You've attended church for 115 years? Sorry. I had to...

I, personally, have never seen anyone, in any church I've ever been in, raise a finger on the way into or our of a church. I think this is just an odd thing to even send around as an e-mail, myself.

I used to do a lot of fingerpainting when I was a child... Some of them were quite good, I must say. They did a fair amount of fingerpainting in the church that my daughters attended for day care... they seemed to like it, but they ate the white paste, too, so what do they know...

Leonardo Da Vinci painted John the Baptist more than any other human subject. In every portrayal, he depicts John with an upraised index finger. In The Tempar Revelations, the authors suggest that this is symbolic of Leonardo's secret belief that John the Baptist, and not Jesus, was the holder of the True Faith. Leonardo is also believed by some to have been a member--or the leader--of the Priory of Sion. Maybe upraising a finger is symbolic of secret membership in the Priory of Sion.

So, you are saying that Da Vinci was painting fingers, too?

Which finger exactly is being raised?
