Turin Shroud

I have only just found this remarkable site, and cannot resist entering into the debate on the So called Turin Shroud. I realise that the Turin Shroud is not likely to be a new topic to The Museum of Hoaxes, but I would like to point out that if you look at the shroud, remembering the the use to which it was supposedly put, the one thing it is not, nor ever has been, is a shroud.
As we all know the Shroud shows two images namely the front and back of a man who shows the wounds of crucifixion, leading many to believe that the shroud is that of Christ. If we were to take a long peice of cloth and wrap it over a man in the way suggested by the shroud, one of two things would happen, either the shroud would touch the top of the head and this would show on any image left on the cloth between the face and back of the head, or if the cloth did not touch the top of the head, then there would be a gap between the two images. The images on the Turin Shroud meet at only one small point, which simply cannot be the case if this cloth has ever to have been used to wrap a body.

I agree with TTTL. True, when the original C14 results came in I just sort of shrugged. The announcement was one of the single most important archaological tests ever, and was made before a planetary audience.
Debunked by a housewife. That got my attention, and I gave Google one hell of a workout. My first task was to annalyze the other exclusionary evidence of red ochre. It took awhile, but I ran it down to one grumpy and obstinant individual. His own lab assistants did not even agree with him.
Further, he did not relinquish STRP sticky tape samples provided to him from the 1978 examination till someone went to Chicago and got them. Then he did not show up to various STRP meetings. His conclusions, in his own words, amounted to viewing the slides through a microscope.
This forced other STRP members to extreme measures in studying the evidence. This was fortuitous in that the results were correspondingly unimpeachable. Blood, hemoglobin, billirubin, and no red ochre.
The billirubin was especially important for two reasons. First, it is only detectible with modern devices. Second, the large quantities found could only be accounted for if it came from an individual who sufferred prolonged hematic trauma.
Yeah, right. For sure it is a midieval hoax. The blatant incompetence and apparent venality of all this got my hackles up. Google, google, google. The list got so long I can not post it all here. But here are a few good links.
