Turin Shroud
Posted By:

Dec 01, 2004

I have only just found this remarkable site, and cannot resist entering into the debate on the So called Turin Shroud. I realise that the Turin Shroud is not likely to be a new topic to The Museum of Hoaxes, but I would like to point out that if you look at the shroud, remembering the the use to which it was supposedly put, the one thing it is not, nor ever has been, is a shroud.

As we all know the Shroud shows two images namely the front and back of a man who shows the wounds of crucifixion, leading many to believe that the shroud is that of Christ. If we were to take a long peice of cloth and wrap it over a man in the way suggested by the shroud, one of two things would happen, either the shroud would touch the top of the head and this would show on any image left on the cloth between the face and back of the head, or if the cloth did not touch the top of the head, then there would be a gap between the two images. The images on the Turin Shroud meet at only one small point, which simply cannot be the case if this cloth has ever to have been used to wrap a body.

Another thread was opened, regarding this same subject. It was closed to new comments, so as not to have 2 threads with the same subject. The link from the duplicate thread will be included here.

There's a thread about the shroud over in the 'hoaxes throughout history' part of my site (though that gets a bit less attention than the forum):

I love the Shroud of Turin. I read everything I can get on it. I can recommend "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". It is an anti-resurrection, pro-DaVinci book. But they go into detail on how to use a one piece shroud.

O.K., obviously nobody here has read the book "The Second Messiah" by:Christopher Knight & Robert Lomar. It should be available at your local library. I definitly recommend it to those seeking answers regarding the Shroud. The image on the shroud is of one Jaques De Moley of the Knights Templars. The authors have proven through scientific experimentation and our current knowledge of the sciences, the exact, and only possible method of the formation of the image on the Shroud of Turin. The book is the sequel to "The Hiram Key", another very interesting work about the true life of Jesus, and the exact location of the "secret scrolls of jesus"(ancient scrolls actualy authored by the "son of man"). Both books relate to Freemasonry due to the authors themselves being Freemasons, it's true history, the true nature of the Knights Templars, characters of the bible, and Freemasonry today. Check em' out.

I don't know how trustworthy a book by the Freemasons would be.

Awesome Brenda, it really is good reading. Maegan,
I don't know what you've heard about Freemasonry,
especially if it was word of mouth from a non-mason (who probably knows nothing about it), or especially a christian, which tend to fear anything they don't know, or anything that could destroy the power held by the church. I personaly have befriended many Freemasons and know from experience that most of the hype is not what your "average Joe" may think about them. I have also read many books on the subject of Freemasonry, it's teachings, and ways of life. It's not bad at all really, I mean, thier motto is "To make a good man better". It's all about friendship, charity, knowing oneself in a way you never knew before, and other similar things to name a few. Our whole country was created and based on Freemasonry by Freemasons. The whole Freedom thing(land of the free), Democracy, our justice system, which even I believe is pretty screwed up at times, are the cornerstones of the U.S.A. For those curious about the subject, go to your local library and pick up a book on the subject. Don't let yourself be ignorant, if you want to know something, do some personal research. It can't hurt.

Latest news article from Reuters claims the shroud is not a medieval fake. The claim is the area tested was a patch, possibly placed on the shroud after it was damaged in a fire in 1532.

Based on my reading of Scripture, the shroud could NOT be genuine. I read from St. John Chapter 20, verses 6 & 7. Jesus had risen, the disciples came into the tomb and found the CLOTHS (plural) lying folded, and the NAPKIN THAT HAD BEEN WRAPPED AROUND HIS HEAD lying separate from the CLOTHS (plural). I checked the original Greek and found the translation to be accurate. If the Bible is to be believed, Jesus was wrapped in at least THREE cloths, one of which was wrapped about his head. The Shroud of Turin is supposed to be ONE cloth which wrapped the body from feet to head and back to feet. There is no evidence on the Shroud that would indicate that his head was bound with a napkin or that there were any other cloths used in the burial process.

JESUS told Thomas, you believe because you see, but blessed are those who believe and don't see.First I don't need a shroud to believe that JESUS resurrected from the grave, once again he resurrected, he was not raptured, when he came back to life he just pulled the shroud off, folded the head piece and that was it, remember when he died on the cross in the book of matt.many graves were opened and the dead came back to life, open graves so they would walk out.so if JESUS was'nt raptured how can there be a print of his figure. shroud not real, JESUS IS ALIVE

Rex D. (et. al.) makes mention of the book "The Hiram Key". Categorize it as "Fiction". Please read the following for an interesting observation:

if you do more searchingyou will discover that the shroud is real.
1. critics claim -painting.
yes there is paint on it from artisrs who made paintings of it. further exam showes not painted its in the fibers.
2. carbon 14 was inaccurate because of fire in 1500s.
3. origalally known by different names - mandillion, cloth of Edessa.
4 image is a negative when you take a picture of the cloth the negative of the photo is a positive immage 600 years before the camera was invented.
5. the cloth has pollen that is from all the areas it was traveled to include pollen from the area of jerusalem.
6. image has all of the reported injuries of christ, this does not match the injuries reported of DeMolay - burned at the stake.
7. the blood on the shroud is blood
8. the injuries from whipping match the insrtument used to whip with the roman flagrom or cat of 9 tails.
9. the type cloth used is consistant with the time and area for christ.
10. the shround would be consistant of that which would be used by someone of the kind of wealth of joseph of aramethea.
there are more if you research
