This is a GREAT site, and I've enjoyed spending the last hour reading through various articles. It struck me as add, though, that one of the biggest hoaxes lately has been given no attention (or, at least, none that I could find).
Remember a year or so ago when this antiques dealer from Isreal claimed to have found a stone box that contained the words, "Here are the bones of the brother of Jesus of Nazarreth" (or something close)? The story was covered in every magazine and newspaper. In the end, it turned out to be a hoax!
Shouldn't somebody write about it for this site? Heck, I guess I could write about it...who should I submit it to?

Oops...
I didn't mean "great site" about www.SleepingWithOars.com (which is my site), I meant that www.MuseumOfHoaxes.com is a GREAT SITE!
I just couldn't resist putting in a little plug for my own private site, which is dedicated to everything about living aboard a sailboat.
Sorry if it's created any confusion. Perhaps the list moderator would like to remove the reference to my own Web site?

I saw a BBC special about the Jesus' Brother's sarcophagus, and you're right. It is one of the biggest archaeological hoaxes in decades. I just haven't had time to research and write up anything about it... but it's definitely worthy of inclusion in the museum. |
