Locked out of Car? Use Cell Phone

Received this in email today. Looks like hoax to me. Anyone know for sure?

Subject: Car Locked? Try this. It works!

Have you ever locked your keys in your car? Try this......

If someone has access to the spare remote at your home,

call them on your cell phone (or borrow one from someone

if the cell phone is locked in the car too!) Hold your (or anyone's)

cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person

at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the phone.

Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your

keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles

away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote"

for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk, or have the

"horn" signal go off, or whatever!)

A friend of mine tried it out and it unlocked their car over a cell phone!

I tried it too and it worked.. cause I was inside but guess what? It worked without the phone as well.. because I was only like 50 yards away inside maybe a little more. I tried it long distance and it DOES NOT work. I could see why it would but I could also see why it would not from a laymans perspective and not much on the science of how it works so I tried to for myself. It does not work.

Going now to read the above link for the science of why not smile thanks
