I'm surprised that you don't include Orsen Wells' radio broadcast of H. G. Wells War of the Worlds. Surely this is one of the all time greatest hoaxes. Perhaps I just missed it.

I have an old vinyl record of war of the worlds in my basement. It's really fascinating. One of the more classic hoaxes in history.

I have a hard time calling it a hoax, since there was never any intent to fool anyone in to thinking it was real.
