Turns out it was made up as a marketing piece for his new movie.

Duh.

Well, I thought the most "duh" thing about the whole thing was when the documentary maker kept talking about M. Night being a "shaman" and how he couldn't leave the Philly area where his power was centered. Uh, okay. That being true, then how is it that his first "real" film was made in India? They seemed to have overlooked that entire bit o' trivia. Hmmm. Made me ask, "This is a joke, right?"

Hey- I'm not reporting any hoaxes, yet...I'm tossing out a "heads-up" regarding Shyamalan's newest flick (due out in a couple of weeks), entitled "the Village". It is set in late 1800's PA, in and around the small Village of Covington. Well, I live just 6 miles from Covington, PA, and I'm looking forward to some film related hoaxes. I'm hoping we can at least expect the same parade of loons that went through Burketsville, MD, after The Blair Witch film and related hype...I'll keep you posted!

You, Mr. Houdini, need to set yourself up a T-shirt stand, and get a license to sell beer. You'll make a fortune.

The really scary part, T.A., is the fact that the film centers around evil, supernatural, demonic beings that inhabit the woodlands surrounding The Village of Covington...Being only six miles away (we are VERY rural here), and on a dead-end dirt road, I half expect some curious souls to be knocking on my door for more info. I live adjacent to Hills Creek State Park, and the State Gameland a mile or two away covers over 38,000 acres- almost all wooded. Should be a real hoot, t-shirt sales, or not.

So, what you're saying, Hairy, is that there will be a crapload of dead tourists after this move comes out because of the amount of people who wander into the gameland and get shot by unsuspecting hunters. Hmmm... Thinning the heard. You may want to warn them so you can make money off them, though. They're worth nothing to you if they're dead. smile

To be honest, I'm really not into fleecing any fools for monetary gain...I'd really prefer to observe anyone seeking spirits or demons make complete and total asses of themselves...I fully intend to regale anyone seeking info on The Village with my tales of: Milk Truck Moe, Pesticide Nut Magee, and The Pine Creek Pus Monkeys...as to whether or not they may face danger from hunters in the woods around here, well, they are more likely to be chased by a bear, or an irate doe protecting a fawn, as I was a month ago...Shayamalan (remember him?) does his homework well...This area has a long history of spooky folktales, tall tales, and colorful local characters, some of whom, myself included, love a good joshing...I'll keep you posted, if I come across any incidents worth mentioning P.S. Alex: I love the site- you rock

Jeez-Louise! I'm surprised by the amount of hits on this post subject- I guess it shows the interest in Shayamalan and his film...Ahain, I'm here in Tioga County, Pa, and only six miles from Covington, Pa. where Shayamalan's new film "The Village" is set. Folks, if you are looking for us on a map, we are in North Central, Pa...go North along Rt. 15 from Williamsport...Covington is about 35 miles north of Williamsport... if you are driving thru, Covington has one light, a blinking yellow, so don't blink yourself, or you'll miss it...Here's a couple of links to local media: The Wellsboro Gazette, a weekly paper from Wellsboro, the County Seat, can be accessed at: http://www.tiogapublishing.com (check out the op/ed cartoons-very good stuff, for a local)...The county FM station can be reached at: http://www.wnbt.net.. and the Tioga County Development Corp./Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce can be reached at: http://www.wellsboropa.com Again, I'll keep posting if any "Village" related stuff rears its head(s)- Hairy

Ok. I heard there was a real documentary proving that there were 200 people found in the pond near the site of the village and that a little Amish spirit named Henry followed shyalaman around and told him that he couldn't move outside 50 miles of that site or he would drop dead, and that Discovery Channel actually had footage from the house, of which a room was that hundreds of crows flew out of when they opened the door. and that the little amish boys reflection was in the mirror when they replayed the footage. Also that he almost drowned in that pond and was suddenly smart when he was revived. Help me clarify please

What is the deal with the website for "true Night fans", where the "deeper you go", the "higher your number is"? I heard that the site doesn't even exist. If the docu was fake then they probably could have just hired some teens to hang around his house, use Ouija boards, light candles, and talk to each other on some made up website. And the whole question on that fake website about why 6 is an important number to him; maybe because he was born on the 6th! Duh...That docu was so repetitive and dull. There was no overall point and it shouldn't have even aired. It was just another sci-fi piece of shit. Maybe Shyamalan just doesn't want people to talk about him and that was the 'stock' quotes deal. But it is interesting that Brody said oh-so-convincingly one of the quotes that Depp had supplied them with. But Shyamalan is just an asshole who keeps to himself. And by the way, I doubt he was dead for 35 minutes at age 10. And maybe he just likes Philly. None of his movies were scary by the way. And so what if there was a crow in that one room of his old house? Maybe because no one lives there, and crows do often go into abandoned, old houses! If he does have connections, he can shove them up my butt, because it's not as if I don't believe in some of that stuff, but come on, he's just another over-paid, shy, Hollyweed directors of boring movies.

i am from England UK, that document was aired this morning around 1 am and lasted till 3 am, i am not sure if this was all a hoax, there were some bits that were un-explained, and some bits that are hard to believe like he died and that picture, cause if that picture was real would see it on other photo's. his wife i heard also died Bhavana, which bring the plot back to signs as is wife died too. I do believe we all have secrets, but i think this was a marketing thing for his film.
Is there any proof that it was real?
i believe in supernatural, but if it is true do you know where i could find proof?

um... i am a resident of the Uk and a small channel there (five) aired the Buried Sect of M.N.S on 21st August late one night. At first i wasnt intent on watching it, but after channel surfing for a while i tuned in at the part where the Ouji Board was being conducted, whihc by the way are a loada nonsense (DUHH Sumone is moving the dam glass!). Any way i continued to watch the "mockumentary" and actually found it quite interesting and fairly humerous (Crow comes flying out of the room, the women nearly passes out!) and the whole mirror thing was just very poor C.G.I. Now what i find amazing is that a channel like Sci-Fi would endorse sum very amateur film makers in mocking a director who has given us some great horror/ (mainly suspense) films! WHY!?
