I don't seem to be able to post comments, so I'm replying with a new post.
No, that's not right; "is" is a verb, and one specifies which noun is acting with nominative and which noun is being acted upon with accusitive. Remember, word order is not as important in the Latin language; "Bob Bill hits" is confusing in english, but with nominative and accusative cases, one can specify that it is Bob that is hitting Bill. By the way, it's the supposed old symbol that I'm talking about: the creepy one with the all-seeing eye. DARPA is said to have changed it soon after it came out.

Strange that you couldn't post comments...
Anyway, 'is' is an intransitive verb, so it doesn't take a direct object, hence no accusative case. |
