Just found this on the web today. I can't tell if this is serious or a gag, but either way it's seriously mental.

I just see people allways using words that I have managed to get through life without ever using. I do not believe that word has ever come out of my mouth, my co-worker doesn't know what it means either, she told me to get a dictionary, but she allways say's that. |

Haha, okay. Basically, an idiom is a phrase or an expression that you probably won't understand if you just know the strict grammatical rules of a language. "Raining cats and dogs" is the classic example; you can just see an ESL speaker saying, "But there aren't cats and dogs falling from the sky!" Another example is the French word for brassiere, which is "soutien-gorge," and literally means something like "that which supports the throat." Now, if you just know French grammar, you're going to think, "Oh, something supports the throat, eh?" You don't know the idiom, and so the connection to brassiere would be completely lost to you. |

Stephen,
Idiom is a word, she didn't make up. But I don't know how smart she is if she doesn't like Axe. J/K Katherine...
We are in fact two people, Mark and Jen. But for the most part (95%) it's usually just me on here running off at the mouth.

SC, I understand your desire to defend your friends. My comments were directed at everyone, pro-ana and anti-ana. I just didn't want to see a flame war errupt.
Thank you for extending the olive branch, SC, best wishes to you. |

No bother Myst, you can be a pain anytime you like. The answer to your query... Mark. Jen only comments when she feels passionately about something... where I on the other hand often comment on things I could care less about. (DNA perfection, Pro-Ana, Proving Gods existence) If it makes me laugh, I'll comment.

Stephen,
See the sixth sense string for your answer. Or read the Axe to Grind thread... you should be able to better infer from that posting as well.
No more smiley's for you mister... calling me a girl. j/k... |

Thanks for clearing that up, Mark. I was a bit more confuzzled than normal.
Stephen, remember what they say about assumeing (ass-u-me). Not that I would ever assume, ehhm, (pleads the fifth). |

I don't know
A lot of what I'm reading here doesn't seem to be from anorexics so much as from people who choose a more conservative eating regime.
True anorexics don't just choose salads rather than burgers, they don't eat at all, or they eat so little that eventually they waste away from malnutrition, that won't happen if you're eating a balanced diet whatever that diet consists of. And fasting once in a while can be good for you, just don't do it too often.
Most anorexics are also aware they have a problem, I've had two bulemic (anorexias close relative) friends, one was as thin as a rake and regularly booked himself into the local loony bin because they would force him to eat properly, the other was over 300 pounds probably nearer 400 (so yes they come in all sizes) and she resisted her urges as much as she could, but tended to revert when she knew she was going to meet new people, she was ashamed of her size and stressed over what the new people would think.
I guess if you're anorexic by choice, then good luck to you.
If you're anorexic against your choice - as most true anorexics are - I hope you get better soon.
If your living an anorexic lifestyle because it makes you feel special (weird) - It's your life. There are healthier ways for you to acheive this. But I'm not your mother. |

I was just reading some of the posts and someone said they dont have a problem with proana sites because they wont turn a healthy person in to an anorexic....well it did for me... i was just curious about them because i heard about them on a tv show and well.... im 18 im short...5ft...and i was 183 5 weeks ago... now im 163 i was so happy... but a couple weeks ago one week i gained about 4 lbs in 4 days (I was home from school and had nothing to do so i just picked at food) right now i dont really consider myself anoreix... i mean im not underweight my dream goal is 115 that im hoping to achieve in 2 more months and at the rate im dropping lbs i most likley will but its just like its taken over my life ... all i can talk about to others is calories and weight loss my bfs even sick of it... its so hard but i mean i know i could stop when i reach my goal weight... well at least thats what i though in the beginning until... i realized how quickly i gained all the weight back when i wasnt even eatting a lot... as of right now im trying to stick to 300-500 cals a day.... so i love pro ana sites but i do think that if a young girl was thinking about how badly she wanted to loose weight and has taken diet pills and such... that the sites could easily influence her...thanks |

i have anorexia bulimia meaning i wont eat for days and then when i do eat i purge, i find solace in pro ana pro mia sites as it makes me feel like maybe im not so alone in this superficial world. If people were more open to pro ed sites as they give hope to many ed sufferers maybe we e.ds mite realise that we r slowly killing ourselves. |
