Hello,
One reason people collect ring tabs from soda cans and not the entire can- it is a different type of aluminum. It is the type of aluminum used to manufacture wheelchairs, and for many pounds of donated tabs, a disabled person gets credit towards a new wheelchair. I know a wheelchair athlete who does this as her racing wheelchairs cost approx $20G, now that she got one she is collecting them for other wheelchair athletes she knows. Some people do turn them in for a 3cent per tab amount to a recycling plant and in turn donate it to Presidents Choice- they have a Tabs for Tots program, also Ronald McDonald house will take actual tabs which they sell to raise $ for their charity. |

My high school has a Charity Drive every February and this year the charity we are raising money for is Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America. My friends and I decided to collect pop tabs to turn them in for money. We will be able to collect a good amount of pop tabs, however we cannot seem to find a place where we can receive money for them. If anyone can help us, it would be much appreciated. We live in Highland Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago. Thank you!! |
