Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus

image You will find the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus high in the trees of Washington State's Olympic National Forest. They spend their early lives in the water of Puget Sound, but as they mature they move upwards, adopting an arboreal existence. They use their eight arms to swing from branch to branch, as well as to grab small prey such as insects and frogs. During their mating season they return to the water, but soon after resume their life in the forest.

The tree octopus population is under great pressure from the encroachments of the modern world: logging, roads, pollution, and overhunting by trappers eager to sell the octopuses as ornamental decorations for hats. As a result, the species is close to extinction. The Save the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus organization has long been attempting to raise awareness of this animal and its plight. They urge concerned citizens to write to their congressional representative about this problem.

Aside from the obviousness of this hoax, there are a few who believe it to be fact, so I'll offer some facts.

The pressure in the arteries and vanes of an octopus is very high in order to resist the high pressures of the deep sea. Out of water, an octopus would suffer extream internal bleeding. Never would it get an opportunity to adapt to land.

The amrs of an octopus can not be adapted for swinging. They are much thinner with no bone and much less muscle than land animals, especially those who swing in trees. The arms are designed to grab prey, which, underwater, would be weightless. The arms would never be able support the weight of its body on land.

You know everyone, I'm a marine biologist, and i have checked what people have been doing with those stuffed animals. Now those were fake but did you see the other photos? It could be real, it could not.
But you can go on Wikipedia if you want to and look up Pacific Tree Octopus. You will get it is a hoax, which it probably is. Before I saw the photos I thought it was real. But when I saw the stuffed animals, I thought,"These maniacs must be really desperate for attention. Only one of the photos looked convincingly real. The others were digitally put on. What website am i talking about? Go to
http://www.zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/
I rest my case.

They're not supposed to be real. This is a hoax website! If anyone is using this site to learn about anything other than hoaxes and made-up animals then they honestly shouldnt bother going on this site. It's a great site but it is not about real things(well most of the time anyway).Based on this the PNWTO qualifies as a good article.

But I must agree this is a totally unbelievable hoax.

alrighty. How can you people totally ruin the faith of others in the Tree Octopus by saying it is a hoax? come on, we all know that it is soooo real. who wouldnt belive it? (besides naive little people who dont believe in the impossible like you). come on, get spirit and go Tree Octopus hunting. we all know we would love to prove this whole "its a hoax" thing wrong. we ALL want to see an octopus in a tree, swinging from branch to branch. Besides, i once knew this guy who went Walnut picking in Oylmpia, and he was viciouly attacked by a Tree Octopus. He came back defeated, and lucky to get away, with only Octopus hickies from the sucker cups.( on their legs...duh )...and thats a true story.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Northwest_tree_octopus

😕 And heres another big hoax (or 2):

dog island- http://www.thedogisland.com/

dehydrated water- http://www.buydehydratedwater.com/

i mean dehydrate means remove water, so you would just buy an empty bottle
