Weeping Lenin
Over the years numerous statues of the Virgin Mary have been known to miraculously start weeping, but on 1 April 1995, an Italian statue of Lenin in the town of Cavriago joined the club. A huge crowd gathered to witness the milky white tears rolling down the statue's metal cheeks. The crowd remained for hours until the tears were eventually revealed to be a prank.

Something like this once happened in the church I used to attend to. They searched the statue all over, however, and couldn't find any way it could be a prank

This got to be the most revealing story in this forum of human stupidity, since (of course) ALL "weeping" statues are pranks. The very reason that the weeping statue was "revealed" as a prank proves the point. A weeping Lenin statue is no more ridiculous than a weeping Jesus or Virgin Mary statue.
The most tragic truth behind this is that the world is full of people who are stupid enough to be religious and believe in things like "weeping" statues.
There is a place in Bosnia where Catholics come from all over the world to "witness" how "tears" drip from a metallic Jesus statue... The "tears" are nothing but rainwater accumulated in a hollow structure... (Yes, I do know this since I have checked it out myself.)
Still, believers believe, with their minds dimmed by years of religious brainwashing, handed down from parents to their children, and from the surrounding culture, no matter what the reality is...
In America, even the president is supposed to make references to an invisible and imaginary power titled "God"... More the norm than unique in the world, if it wasn't for the fact that the U.S. is supposed to be a highly developed nation with educated citizens. Many Europeans don't know whether to cry or laugh at our often silly and wonderful friends across the Atlantic.
