(most recent posts first)

I think the women pictured are beautiful if you want to be that skinny it's nobody's business but their own.

those pictures have been messed with. I saw what they normally look like - check this out: http://www.house-of-sins.com/eyecandy/manipulated.html shows what they normally look like (if you can call that normal)

Jodie Kidd, she's that skinny... she's walking... people who are 5'3 can go down to 55 until they can't walk! And well hmmmm I dunno

just because the whole of the american and other developed countries population are busy getting fat on fast food dont blame the fashion industry for making you feel bad. i know most of top models and none of them look that way, we are all healthy and i myself personally cant put any weight on no matter how much i eat and im glad im not fat. i would say you were extremely stupid to believe any of the pics were real.

Hi, Im a clynical psychologist from Spain, I work in a Child and Teenager Public Mental Health Clinin in Asturias, North of Spain. Of course media has influence on the development of anorexia in many teenagers (vulnerable, with predisposition, but its a fact). Anorexia is very frequent since 70', due to media influence, and though most models are not THAT skinny as the pics, I SEE THEM ON THE CATWALK AND THEY LOOK TO ME AS MY ANOREXIS PATIENTS. They are too thin, their bodies has NO MUSCLE, NO FAT... NO LIFE, they look like dead people walking, so sullen, so sad and so angry. Forget the pics, rebrushed or not, and see the fashion catwalks and youll see WALKING ANOREXIA.

those pictures are so fake & computer altered...All runway models are incredibly skinny, but if you could see their ENTIRE skeleton, like in those photos, they wouldn't be able to walk. I have seen some of those pictures before and those girls actually have some flesh on them, not pure bone.
Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 10:29:55
thats so gross because if you were to even think of haveing sex with one of them then they would just like break in half

There is no way I will compliment anorexic people. What they are doing is wrong and they need to seek help IMMEDIATELY!

They are fake because I've seen the real pics, it's not hard to edit. And no they aren't just anorexic-skinny, I know anorexic-skinny. Those pictures are more like people who are anorexic and have scurvy. The bones aren't in proportion, and they don't usually have that skinny of models walking the runway. Just because models have to be skinny, doesn't mean they get away with starving themselves and looking terribly unhealthy. If you start looking like that your agent will send you for help, calvin klein is advertising bones, at least not to that extreme.

models are skinny, yes. The photos displayed are not real. That is fact. I spent many years on the floor of an eating disorder clinic & my patients did not look like that. The VERY few that may have at some point...were only hours from their deaths. This was a plot on the part of someone being sarcastic...point taken.

Gee, Steve. I'm sure it really is a mystery to you why I never added your comment. Well, let me give you a hint. It might have been because the comment was totally x-rated, and this is a pg-13 rated site.

You never added my comment about why I would like to engage in sex with these girls. why not? Perhaps, because it had a positive outlook on thier frailty ?

well first of all, those picture are extremely fake why because i know these models , and in the modeling industry there is no such thing as that skinny models, second i am very skinny and i do model, some of us no matter how much we eat we don't gain weight and it's not cool , when people make fun of us skinny people we are in the same position as fat people cuz they critisize us for how we look, but anyways stop being ignorant cuz those are famous models, giselle is a famous brazilian model and the other one too and they are not that skinny. No models are that way. Believe me i weight 105 and i am pretty tall and skinny , and i definitely don't look that way and none of the girls in the modeling industry are like that, unless they are anorexic but they are definitely not in modeling.

Most of those pictures are faked. I know those models; I have seen them elsewhere, they are the size of your everyday fashion model.

There is no way that these pictures are real. Look at their faces...they do not match their bodies. Someone who would be that skinny would have a sunken in face and wouldn't even be able to walk down a runway. I can't believe that anyone would think that they were real pictures! I couldn't help but laugh while reading all the comments that went on to explain that these women are mentally ill and suffer from anorexia...like no one knows what anorexia is! Oh...and Sara...stop trying to be so deep...you can't be that intelligent if you think that those pictures are of real women. Anorexia has been around a lot longer than we think. The first case of anorexia dates back to 2, 500 years ago and I don't think it was because she felt fat compared to the women on MTV's Beach House. While it is true that the media plays a big role in brainwashing women to think that they are inadiquit lets not forget that 60% of America is considered clinically overweight with Australia close behind. Perhaps the media should promote fitness and health instead of one specific body type .

Okay what is up with this??? I mean I have not seen anyone this skinny in my life! I think that the faces were added on to these (probably) computerised bodies. You can tell because some of the faces are a different color then the body.

As I don't doubt that the pitures of the bodies are real...I believe the heads were added on. The model in "skinny 4" is pretty well known, and unless they alter ALL of her other pictures, that one's not real.

They are thin, face it, they want to be this way, it's sad that they think that they arnt beautiful unless they are, but they are so beautiful. each one of those girls tells a story and like it or not they are amazing, not for who or what they are but for the simple and unexsplaned breath of life that is self.

The skinny models in the photographs are real young women with anorexia nervosa. Sufferers don't actually believe they are thin -- they picture themselves as overweight. The disease almost always affects girls and young women. It's a serious condition, with a significant death rate. Treatment consists of a combination of psychotherapy and medication, often with good results. I doubt that the "fashion industry" sponsored this show; more likely it was some sick promoters.

you guys don't know much about anorexia, do you?? it's a psychological disorder. you wanna know why these girls are so skinny? because they look in the mirror and see themselves as fat pigs. their insecurities ate them alive. LITERALLY. you think they woke up one morning and said "i think i'll starve myself today." no. not at all. i used to be like them. i used to lose 20 pounds in a month. i used to sit at family dinners sneaking food under the table for the dog to eat and spitting bites into my cup so no one would notice that i hadn't taken a single bite. i used to go to the library during lunch. and i used to eat lettuce with 0 calorie mustard whenever i got an ulcer. and i used to look at girls like that and be jealous because they were thinner than me. don't you get it?? they're SICK. and i don't mean gross. i mean their health is in danger. they don't care about being pretty. all they want to be in thin. that's all that matters to them. and i mean that is ALL that matters. to them, there is no such thing as too thin. the thinner, the more beautiful. anorexia is a disease. laughing at those girls is like laughing at an old lady in a wheelchair. as for the fashion industry promoting it, i agree that it's disguting. that's what plants the idea of anorexia in more people's minds. it's what planted it in my mind.

Them girls need to eat... they are so ugly, my friend said she would go make them a sandwich!
Friday, August 15, 2003 at 12:11:31
if these photos are real, the person, or persons responsible for hiring them should seek counselling, as should those models. I however do hope that the photos shown were re-touched(too dramatically at that i must say) because those girls looked like they`ve already been kissed by death.

I'D RATHER BE FAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

They look like refugees left over from the WWII concentration camps
Monday, August 11, 2003 at 08:21:49
I'm sure these photos have been altered because I have seen this many times before. At pro-ana websites you see digital disortions of models and actresses all over the place. They refer to it as "thinspiration".

If these are real, whats the secret to loosing weight in targetted areas, but, keeping the face "normal" looking? These pictures may have the real people that look like this thinking its ok and good since "models" look like this and make lots of money. Real or not, I feel pictures like this do more harm than the chuckles they get.
Monday, August 11, 2003 at 07:32:37
Their bodies could not be that thin without it showing in their faces. I think their fake.
Monday, August 11, 2003 at 05:08:45
Those ladies have some pretty healthy looking faces compared to the rest of their bodies. Looks like someone else's head atop a rack of bones. Shame on the fashion industry if a malnourished body IS what's required to be a model. If it's a hoax, it's in very poor taste.
Sunday, August 10, 2003 at 23:51:27
The middle left image is an altered version of a Victoria's Secret catalog image from the past few years...don't ask me how I know it
Saturday, August 09, 2003 at 01:26:57
Unfortunately. While there is a possibillity that these images are fake. They're not a far cry from the truth. I've seen numerous images of women suffering from anorexia nervosa and the women in those pictures look physically similar. Check out this site: http://www.anorexicweb.com/anorexicweb.html.
"I can't imagine why the fashion industry would encourage this." I don't mean to be the one to disillusion you but there are women like this all over the globe. It has more photographs of women suffering from anorexia.

i want to comment on the "really skinny" models and say that they are completly fake, don u think their WHOLE body would be like that, also any person looking like that doesn't walk fashion runways, and the model in the first pic is a well known model i have seen many times, and she doesnt look like that
