Hunting for Bambi: Comments
(most recent posts first)

I think, personally, that this advocates aggression against women. As for the guy who "draged her back to the cave had his way with" his bambi is a dickhead who should be in jail. If this is real, all the people who promote it or are involved with it should be sent to jail for a long time. Way to go assholes.

Censors suck.People on their high horse suck. If it were my sister or mother that did that OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL, would I put a stop to the activity? NO. Would I have a serious talking to coming to both of them? YES, peppered with yells possibly. Closing down the Hunt for Bambi is wrong. It's bad enough we allow close minded, censor embracing people to run around as it is...Next thing you know, we'll be sending in the Gestapo and all wear Jack Boots because we can't allow original thoughts and ideas to run rampant anymore. Do I advocate anarchy? NO. If someone can follow all the Federal, Local, and business laws while conducting business. So be it. Quit trying to stamp out or limit MY freedom because of YOUR narrow minded views.

Well, with the money that we are hunting for p#@$%, couldn't we find better things to hunt for? Like Saddam? I mean if we can't find Bin Landen, who terrorizes our FREE world, how the hell can you expect a man or men to hunt for a piece of tail? Are our priorities mixed? OkaY , I understand that it's for entertainment. I understand that I would do the same thing if it was available in my small town. Come on, add a bonus in the HUntint For BAmbi craze and add a guy who looks like Saddam at least. Give Americans some hope if with all our technological ingenuity in finding serial killers, inept taxpayers, and parking meter violaters; give us the pleasure in these times to not only satisfy our basic of urges you kill and f#@$. But to lay to waste an epitome of evil like Saddam. Or, send those guys hunting to I raq and tell them Bambi will only be found when Saddam is dead. I bet you Saddam will be found in three seconds or less!

I understand this is all a huge hoax. With that having been said, if it wasn't, what is wrong with it? If someone offered me money to be shot at with a paintball gun while running around naked, and I accepted... Who does this hurt? It doesn't hurt me (unless hit with a paintball) nor does it hurt the "hunter". As an adult I can choose what I want done to myself or what I don't. The only time it becomes an issue if it was done against my will. It is amazing the number of people who know better then the participants what is best for them. Come on give us a break... The only thing I find amusing out of this whole story is the fact that the news jumped on it, initially believing it was true, the womens rights group jumped on it screaming outrage, and the public was left scratching their heads wondering what's wrong?

As an avid paintballer that started in Missouri using Sheridan Cow Markers to shot each other, I've played my fair share of nude paint ball games in the woods. Aside from the ticks, I think it's fun for both sides of the sexes. As for the Business end? Arent we supposed to be a FREE market economy? Based on supply and DEMAND? Get a clue you anti-American HYPOCRITS! SELLING your capitalist SOUL is the American way! Live free!

You people who say things such as 'what kind of messages does this send?" make me laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, figuratively. If you're worried that the message might corrupt your kids, then it's high time to get objective and ask yourselves what you're doing wrong in your parenting duties. Oh, and I'm sure there are some anti-first amendment movements that meet and have bake sales and things you could consider. CLOWNS.

I was a cameraman on ALL the Hunting for Bambi shoots. EVERYTHING we did was staged. A couple girls did get paid extra ($100) to actually take a well placed (choreographed) "hit", but most of the girls on the video just stood there while we literally threw paint covered paintballs at their butts. I can't believe how gullible most people are. NO ONE ever paid to hunt a girl. All the hunters were friends, actors, or investors in the business (who would make $100-$200 each). Saturday July 19th, we did a shoot for a German TV station that actually paid Micheal $5,000 for the rights to film a hunt. The hunter was a shill. He actually shot at the girls as they ran through a predetermined course, but a "hit" was considered ANY paint on the Bambi's skin. Eventually one girl was "hit" when a paintball sprayed her on the leg as it ripped through a mesquite bush and that was the end of the "hunt". Micheal gave each girl $2,500 (which was paid for by the German TV people) and that was it. Get a grip people and don't believe everything you see or hear

anyone who says "oh, lighten up, they're doing it under their own free will"...let's see you take that attitude when it turns out to be your sister or daughter running around in the desert. those are the same @$$holes who use that excuse to justify the existence of strip clubs. not all men are losers, but apparently enough of them are to put crap like hunting for bambi in business. i'd love to have a naked guy in support of this new sport run around the desert while i try to shoot catcus paintballs at his full frontal.

BOOBS! AND YOU GET TO SHOOT THEM!!!!!!!!! YIPEEE!

Oh, by the way, the fact that "activist groups" are trying to ban something is NOT proof that the something is real. It just shows that they got taken just like the media did. This June, I was in NYC to perpetrate a hoax for some friends of mine who own a business. I managed to get myself on TWO local TV news shows with a premise that any sane person should have realized was ridiculous. This in the largest, supposedly most savvy, media market in America. These things can be accomplished IF you know what you're doing. The "Hunting for Bambi" guy was an amateur. The entire tone of his website is wrong; it's too "over the top". He could have prolonged this thing if he had played it right. Also, when the crap started to hit the fan, he should have disappeared for a few days, rather than telling Las Vegas city officials that he was going to lie to MSNBC later that day. Duh. What did he think was going to happen? Maybe I should go into business as a "hoax consultant".

I told you last week that "Hunting for Bambi" was a hoax and I predicted that it would be revealed as such no later than today (Friday). I win. http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2003/Jul-25-Fri-2003/news/21806597.html

Even if it IS a publicity stunt, how many of those Real Men creators are wife beaters and child molesters? How many are married and how many have been in jail or prison? What message is this sending to the rest of the world? How far is too far?

To the woman in the bay area (and, presumably, others) who expressed the wish that this activity were organized in her area for her employment: I would suggest that there is relatively little to impede you from entering this area on a direct client/supplier basis -- certainly the capital investment would be minimal and market demand would seem to be relatively proven. There are a number of things to be considered....
Location -- one would need someplace sufficiently secluded so as to avoid creating a public nuisance, which would seem to be the main legal problem. While there are legal difficulties with both public and private lands, it is doubtlful that the fellows in Las Vegas have dealt with these as better than you would. In general, things will be fine until someone finds out and complains.
Security -- you would be, after all, inviting clients to experience, at some level, their most primal agressive and violent instincts. While most might be fine, some very few might get out of hand. An associate, perhaps secreted out of sight, with a can of pepper spray might be a handy reserve in such situations.
Advertising -- Like the Las Vegas folks, a web site would be a likely first step. There are without doubt plenty of Internet Service Providers that would handle this for a reasonable fee. The various Internet sex index sights (Jane's Guide, et al) might be persuaded to provide reviews and links.
Rate of Income -- One woman suggested that paintball bruises took a week to heal. Presuming that clients would want an unbruised prey, this would limit income, although the entire remainder of the week would be available for single-mothering and other employment. The reported Las Vegas schedule was $1,000 to run the course, $100 per course flag gathered by the woman (motivation to provide shooting opportunities), and $1,500 for a 1-hour hunt without a single hit (incentive to be good prey). A maximum of $3,500, a minimum of $1,000 -- assuming an average take of $1,750, once per week, this would be about the equivalent of a $45 per hour, 40 hour per week job.
Equipment -- Perhaps a paintball gunsmith could be found to de-rate the equipment you provide. The frangibility of the ammunition you provide might be increased to ease the adverse effects of a hit. Your fee schedule might be adjusted based upon the potency of the weapon used. Real dickheads would pay more -- a lot more -- to use the Mister Macho gun.
Competitive Advantage -- The folks in Las Vegas, as middlemen, charge a worst-case maximum fee so as to make all that the woman might earn ($3,500) plus something for overhead and profit. As a direct client/provider system, you would undercut this by charging only on a fixed-fee/performance bonus arrangement. If the client got lucky, it would be much cheaper for him; if you got lucky, you would get all that you would have gotten anyway, and it would still be cheaper for him. Your basic rate (the $1,000 to run) might be adjusted up to account for overhead (equipment, web site, and the like).
Consortium -- to handle the possible business load, provide (covert) security protection, and the like, it might be well to form a consortium with other women will to undertake this activity. Capital and recuring expenses would, thus, be distributed.
Consideration should also be given to related activies: it is possible that some clients would not be particularly interested in shooting you with a paint ball. While the fees would be reduced, there might be a market for simply running naked in a field.
An extension of this might be a business of pre-arrange streaking. Clients might pay you to run naked in venues that they select. Fees could be based on risk, embarrasment, duration, etc. Alternatively, a business of subscribed streaking might be devised: you publish your intention to perform a streak in a general area at a general time, customers pay a fee to learn the precise details of place and time, and, presuming enough subscribe, you perform the streak as described, refunding payments if you are unable to perform or insufficient subcriptions come in.
One thing to try first before becoming committed paintball prey: find someone to shoot you with a paintball, preferrably on bare skin, to see just how tolerable you find it.
Finally, what I find suprising is not that men are willing to pay to hunt naked women with paintball guns, but that there are women who would regard such an activity as being of more favorable cost/benefit than more traditional sex-related activities.
Good luck to you. I only wish I were in the Bay area to be your first customer. Anybody out there in north east Ohio?

Whether it is a hoax or not, it is a stupid idea and conveys a lousy attitude towards women and is entirely tasteless. Bah.
Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 14:48:52
Whether Hunting for Bambi is a hoax or not is beside the point. As abhorrent as hunting women is, using the idea as a marketing tool may be worse. The website itself is nothing more than a vehicle to denegrate women and anyone who buys any of the material ought to be ashamed of themselves. (By the way, I hope none of you has a woman in your life who is ever the victim of a violent crime. I think you'd feel differently.)
Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11:16:45
'Hunting for Bambi' is NOT a hoax. Don't you people do your research? It's real, and activist groups all over are trying to get it shut down.
Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 22:09:17
Bambi Hunting is NOT a hoax. Fox News tried to join a hunt and their credit card was charged the $2500 deposit. I also recently participated as a panel to view and comment on the Bambi. I know some of you think this is good clean fun, but what it really does is promote violence against women by simulating the hunting and killing of women as a sport. I work in a shelter for victims of domestic violence and those of you who think this is fun should talk to women and children who have been hunted by someone they loved and have had to flee abuse or even attempts to kill them. Look one of those children in the eyes and tell them these hunts are just entertainment.

I hope Hunting for Bambi is not a hoax,my buddy and I just sent $2500.each for the Hunt.We are scheduled for August 23rd.I will report back to you guys how it "goes down".

Brilliant publicity stunt!! This guy will sell LOTs of videos which was the intent of this hoax.
Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 13:47:58
I like the concept - it sounds kinda fun. But when are we going to do this with guys? *smile*
Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 06:00:26
I wish someone would start this up in the bay area. I am a very pretty single mom who is struggling to make ends meet and getting real damn sick of being broke all the time. I would definately do this job. At least I wouldn't have to dance for them or have sex with them. I could run around naked trying not to get shot with a paintball. BIG DEAL!
Monday, July 21, 2003 at 18:45:53
Women's rights people: Give up with your ridiculous bullshit. These women are not being forced to participate, they are being paid to participate and are doing so on their own free will.
Monday, July 21, 2003 at 15:21:12
This is crap. I play competition paintball and it gives paintball a bad name. There thinking about banning the sport. If you want to know about real paintball go to www.paintball.com and see for your self. This is just a bunch of jackasses giving paintball a bad name.
Monday, July 21, 2003 at 13:38:39
Hey guys, hate to burst your bubble, but Hunting for Bambi is the real deal. Come to LV and find out for yourself. And in this town it hardly raises a few eyebrows...
Sunday, July 20, 2003 at 23:03:06
I cannot believe that this type of tyranny against the so called, 'weaker sex', is being permitted. The organizers of this should have their balls tortured by me and my girlfriends because we've tried everything with men but that, so why the hell not??? I'd like to take each one of those assholes who participated in this 'sport', one at a time and show them how it feels to be shot by paint balls on their posteriors!!! Bring it on!!!
Sunday, July 20, 2003 at 18:23:05
It's real. I Played last time I was in Vegas. It's a blast too. And for another grande I drag my kill back to the cave and had my way with her.
Sunday, July 20, 2003 at 15:00:29
Do there have hunting for bambi for woman, and if so How do I get the job.
Sunday, July 20, 2003 at 14:04:04
Hunting for Bambi is just another adult money making site. Some of the "Bambis" listed are the same girls who are in backroomfacials, captainstabbin, bangbus, and other other adult sites.
Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 07:32:46
Hunting for Bambi apparently real. I live in Las Vegas, the local news covered the story.

I'm trying to find out if this is a hoax or not: Michael D. The Hunting for Bambi site has all the earmarks of a hoax. As a person who has a site listed on the Museum's Hoax Websites section (you'll just have to guess which one), I think I know what I'm talking about. The tone of the HfB website is entirely different from the tone the proprietor took with the Vegas TV station, just for starters. Also, the whole HfB site seems set up to sell videos and other Bambi paraphernalia. Sorry, Bambi boys, I'm just not buying your story. I give this thing no more than another week (from 7/16) before we hear the real story.

I just finished reading your book and found it to be extremely informative and entertaining. You'll understand why I find the following a bit hard to swallow. This past weekend on our local news station in Las Vegas they aired a segment that just had hoax written all over it. Now, this story is being picked up by the national media at an unbelievable rate. I thought I'd pass this along because you are indeed the expert.

Do you know anything about "Hunting for Bambi" ? http://www.klas-tv.com/Global/story.asp?S=1356380&nav=168XGqk0 (original TV article by Luanne Sorrell, the only person to have interviewed the team till now) http://www.huntingforbambi.com, but you can check their dev site at http://michaelb.zoovy.com/ (the latter is faster). This really looks like a hoax to my eyes, starting from
1) ...You'll also see an actual road kill scene as a semi-truck takes out Bambi on the highway (home page)
2) Pictures in "wall mount" section are blatant photoshops
3) The disclaimer is written to preserve the hoax's author
4) The site is built with a pre-made thing
5) There's no place in which they clearly say that YOU are going to shot a girl
6) The BambiDolls section is AD for the girls ("escorts", I think, AFAIK prostitution is legal in nevada), they are just going to get free AD.
Still, I might be wrong (just hoping I'm not =)
